Driving attitude - the main factor of causing motorcycle accidents

Driving attitude is the most important factor to reduce the risk of motorcycle accidents.

As with all road accidents, the causes and contributory factors of motorcycling accidents are varied and complex.

In Hong Kong, a 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed together with his wife, when his scooter crashed with two trucks in Hong Kong this week. They were found dead on the spot and were considered their dangerous driving attitude was responsible of this tragedy.

As the driver had a provisional license, there is suspicion that his wife was illegally riding pillion on his bike at the time of the accident and had broken other traffic regulations. On the other hand, he was cutting lines in between two med-size transportation trucks in a high speed of over 70 mph with carrying a passenger. He was riding a scooter too in bridge highway. As believed, this motorcycle accident was evitable.

The accident happened around 9:20 am when the two-wheeler was running along a slip road of Ting Kau Bridge towards Kowloon. When approaching Ting Kau Bridge along the slow lane, the motorcycle first risked to cut line into a truck vehicle in the middle lane and then crashed into its back. Then, another coming truck behind rolled over their bodies and head. They were later certified dead on the spot.

According to traffic law, new license holders for motorcycles are given a provisional license for the first year. During that time, they are not allowed to carry a passenger on their motorcycle.

Tom Cruise 's Motorcycle Crash & Accident in LA

You may have watched "Mission Impossible 2" By John Woo that Tom Cruise rides as a special agent with one wheel on the ground in a super highseed gunning down "bad ass". Not in reality.

While riding his bike around El Lay on Sunday, Tom Cruise had an unfortunate accident. He was at an El Lay intersection on Sunday when an SUV ran a stop sign, causing Tom's red Ducati motorcycle to spin out in order for him to avoid hitting the vehicle. "It was like a scene from 'Mission Impossible,'" said an onlooker.

Cruise struggled to his feet and was seen limping after the accident, but he's fine. Tom sat outside KOI Restaurant on La Cienega, where he made two phone calls and waited for paramedics.

Tom Cruise's publicist, Amanda Lundberg, tells that the 47-year-old Cruise was not involved in any such incident. "Totally false," she says of the report, which also claimed Cruise needed medical attention at a nearby hospital. "Not true at all."

Honda Motor Co makes US$600 Motorbike to Fight Chinese & Indian Rivals

Honda Motor Co., the world’s largest motorcycle maker, will introduce a new motorbike that may be its cheapest to raise sales in emerging markets among rising competition from Chinese and Indian rivals.Honda will build and sell the motorbike for as little as 4,000 yuan ($599) in China starting next year and also introduce it in Nigeria and Latin America. The company will compete with Chinese and Indian motorcycle makers, targeting low-income customers in developing countries.

Currently, the company’s cheapest motorcycle in China is the 100cc Wave that retails for 4,600 yuan, while in India the 36,350-rupee ($817) 97cc CD-Dawn is its lowest priced model. Honda’s most expensive offering is the 1,800cc Gold Wing that sells for 3.68 million yen ($44,370) in Japan.

Honda Motor Co., needs to look for growth from emerging economies, since the unit sales plunged 41 percent in North America last fiscal year. In India, Honda is expanding an existing motorcycle plant and building a new plant to add 2.2 million units of capacity next year in India.

For a long term, profits from emerging markets will become a main source of motorcycle makers' incomes, as developed countries struggle from economic woes.

Yamaha's 2009-2010 Global Motorcycle Sales Trumbled on Debt Crisis & Stronger Yen

Yamaha Motor Co., the world’s 2nd motorcycle maker, said sales in North America and Europe may fall twice as much as forecast, since the spreading debt crisis damps demand. Combined sales in North America and Europe may decline as much as 20 percent this year. Slumping demand for motorcycles in developed countries is forcing Yamaha to slash jobs and close plants. The company will shut five factories in Japan and one making boats in the U.S. by 2012, adding to the closure of a motorcycle plant in Italy last year. Yamaha will cut as many as 1,000 jobs this year after eliminating 1,100 positions in 2009.

The company last year posted its first loss since the year ended April 1984 as sales tumbled 45 percent in North America and 25 percent in Europe. Declining demand for large leisure-oriented models in the U.S., such as the 1.3-liter $19,690 Royal Star Venture, contrasts with a recovery in car sales.

US Motorcycle Sales Down 17.3% in the first six months of 2010

First six months of motorcycle sales in US are still down, compared to the same reporting period in 2009, according to various sources.

The motorcycle sales in America has kept slumping down since the financial year of 2008, especially the sale of off-road motorcycle. It is understandable that, in any bad economy, more people are concerned about their works than leisure.

Tragedy of US Motorcycle Off-Road Maker - U.S. Highland

The future of US Highland, an upstart American off-road motorcycle manufacturer, is now facing an uncertain situation, after the deaths of company President Mats Malmberg, Chief Operating Officer Chase Bales and Chief Financial Officer Damian Riddoch, in a plane crash near Tulsa, Oklahoma, late Saturday, July 10.

The three men were returning to their Tulsa-area homes from a business meeting in Detroit. Bales was piloting the private plane, a twin-engine Cessna 421, at the time of the crash.

The plane crash-landed in a densely wooded area less than a mile north of the airport. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The reason investigated was due to the the plane running low on fuel.

U.S. Highland had just recently completed construction of a new motorcycle factory in Mounds, Oklahoma, and was starting production of its first customer bikes with deliveries scheduled for August - the 1050cc Viking streetfighter & 950cc Desert X enduro.

The company has the 30-plus employees currently working at the main U.S. Highland facility in Tulsa. The company's stock value fell by 44 percent in over-the-counter trading on the news of the crash.
