2014 Honda CRF250R. The Best Just Got Better

The best-handling bike in the 250 class just got a whole lot better. That’s because Honda’s CRF250R is all new for 2014, with a major emphasis on doing what a 250 does best: offer precise, nimble, tack-sharp handling. So what did we do? First, we gave it our new, low-CG aluminum frame. Next, there's an updated fork, a new swingarm, a new shock and new linkage ratio. Finally, we added our patented dual-muffler exhaust –- all of these come together to make the new CRF250R handle better than ever.
We didn't stop there. Engine changes include a new, high-compression piston, new cylinder head and porting, a lighter radiator and new dual-stage fuel injection timing that offers crisp low to mid range power. Add it all up and you can see that the bike that Wil Hahn rode to win the 2013 250SX East title is even better for 2014!

2013 KTM Two-Stroke Off-Road Models Recalled

2013 KTM Two-Stroke Off-Road Models Recalled

KTM has initiated a recall on 2013 two-stroke off-road motorcycles because of a problem with the throttle cable.  The models affected are the 125 EXC, 125 EXC Six Days, 125 SX, 150 SX, 150, XC, 200 EXC, 200 XC-W, 250 EXC, 250 EXC Six Days, 250 SX, 250 XC, 250 XC-W, 300 EXC, 300 EXC Six Days, 300 XC, 300 XC-W, 85 SX, and 85 SXS.

According to KTM, the throttle cable on affected models can get pinched between the throttle cable wheel and the top of the throttle housing assembly. This flaw may result in the loss of throttle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

KTM says the problem was due to an improperly-produced upper throttle housing from a supplier. A replacement throttle housing has been designed to address the problem. Authorized KTM dealers will replace the throttle housing and the throttle cable wheel. The repair should take about 10 minutes and will be done free of charge to consumers.

Customers are asked to visit the Service section of KTM’s website where they can enter their motorcycle’s 17-digit VIN to determine whether their bikes are affected by this or any other recall.

Triumph Review: 2013 Triumph Street Triple

The 2013 Triumph Street Triple and Street Triple R were revealed in Cologne, Germany last year. The 2013 motorcycles have been completely redesigned and are described below.

Triumph’s Street Triple has been one of the success stories of recent years, collecting numerous accolades along the way and being recognized for delivering class-leading dynamics alongside an unforgettable riding experience. Fusing the style and attitude of the Speed Triple with the agility of the Daytona 675, and delivering it all for a very competitive price, it wowed the industry when it arrived in 2007.

For 2013, the Street Triple has been completely redesigned to offer an even more exhilarating ride. Heralding the change is an all-new chassis. An aluminum beam twin-spar frame meets a new two-piece high-pressure die-cast rear subframe. Not only is the chassis robust and hard-edged, it’s also advanced. Engineered to optimise dynamism, agility and rider enjoyment, the design is lighter thanks to fewer pieces and fewer welds in the frame.

A key component in the Street Triple’s improved handling is the all-new low-mount exhaust. Not only does this provide a sharp new look, but it offers a significant contribution to redistributing the center of gravity and the weight of the exhaust. Its design and optimized mass centralization has also afforded Triumph’s engineers the opportunity to tweak the geometry, reducing the rake to 24.1 degrees and increasing the trail by 0.5mm to 99.6m. As a package, it adds up to razor sharp dynamic handling weighing just 403 pounds, fully fuelled—a substantial 13 pound weight reduction over the outgoing model.

The handling of the Street Triple is complimented by KYB suspension via 41mm upside down forks. Stopping power is provided by a dual 310mm floating disc front brake set up, with Nissin two-piston sliding calipers. Further braking security is provided by the standard ABS, which itself is fully switchable.

The heart of the Street Triple remains the liquid-cooled, 12-valve, 675cc 3-cylinder engine. Combined with the close ratio 6-speed gearbox, the unit delivers 105 horsepower and 50 lb-ft of torque. The power plant has been tuned for incredibly strong low-to-mid-range performance.

Three metallic color options are available for the 2013 Street Triple: Phantom Black, Crystal White and Caribbean Blue.

Kawasaki Review: 2013 Kawasaki Z1000SX

The Kawasaki Z1000 attracts riders with its muscular good looks and then seduces them with its incredible power and charismatic feel. Serious torque, comfortable ergonomics, and a mesmerizing aesthetic make for an unforgettable experience.

Its distinctive look begins with a front cowl that slopes back radically, highlighting the Z’s aggression. The line-beam headlights are integrated nicely into that angled cowl. Then its shapely fuel tank is flared on the sides for serious knee grip and is slimmer in back for a snug fit.

The seat is low and narrow at the front to make ground contact easy, and flows beautifully rearward to end in a futuristically retro LED tail light behind a red lens.

An aluminum frame, similar in concept to the Ninja® ZX™-10R’s, cradles the engine from above. The design allows a narrow mid-section, which fosters a high degree of rider comfort and feedback in addition to keeping weight low and chassis rigidity high.

The engine bolts solidly to the frame in three places, stressed-member-style, and there’s also a rubber mount at the upper rear crankcase area for added vibration damping and torsional rigidity.

Suspension at both ends is thoroughly modern and wickedly functional: a beefy, fully adjustable 41mm inverted fork up front and a spring preload and rebound damping adjustable Uni-Trak® shock in back.

A solid-mount handlebar and aluminum footpegs lifted from the Ninja® ZX-10R contribute to the Z1000’s quality, top-shelf feel. Brakes? Totally modern: Radially mounted calipers, Ninja-spec 300mm petal-type rotors and a radial-pump master cylinder all provide the latest in braking feel and feedback.

2013 Yamaha Motorcycle: Yamaha MT-03 2013

The MT-03 has a light, compact, fuel-injected engine that's full of power for instant thrust and a short-wheelbase with a focused centre of gravity that allows remarkable control and excellent traction on all kinds of roads.

It is a bike that comes with Kodo as standard, the Japanese word for 'soulbeat' - epitomised by the sound and pulse of the MT-03's big single in action.

In the city, the radically styled MT-03 is one of the quickest and most rewarding ways to get from A to B. And out on twisty country lanes, this super-agile, high-torque bike can pack in more action per kilometre than just about any other machine.

Kawasaki Review: Kawasaki Z800 2013

Kawasaki Z750 will be remembered as a naked successful, characterized by a great value and a design of “compromise” that is designed to be appreciated by a wide audience. Its successor, however, will change dramatically. It will be called Z800, will have a larger displacement engine and, above all, will be characterized by taut lines and angular. The design, aggressive, uncompromising, is based on that of the Z1000. Unlike a traditional naked, Z800 on the engine is partially covered by the crosspieces of the chassis and the bodywork.

This gives the Z800 a massive appearance, typical of high-powered sports naked. The details, however, are in line with those of the mid-sized competitors. The fork does not have the truss and the front brake calipers are axial type. To put it mildly futuristic instrumentation, consisting of three digital displays. Finally, it seems that the Kawasaki Z800 is the first to be equipped with the Stop and Start.

Yamaha Superbike: 2013 Yamaha YZF-R1

Simply stating that the “2013 YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 come back in a variety of new and exciting colors,” Yamaha’s press release is void of any mentioning of an update to the R1 or R6′s electronics package or other technical add-ons, let alone any revision to the major components of the machines.

With Honda already showing us its re-styled Honda CBR1000RR for 2012, and Kawasaki and Suzuki expected to stay the course with their liter-bike models, it would seem the only guaranteed change in sport bike offerings from the Big 4 for 2013 is the revamped Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, which sees the same chassis outfitted with a 636cc motor and new bodywork. Humpf.

What is perhaps more interesting is that there appears to be no movement from Yamaha or Suzuki in bringing a 250cc class sport bike to the American market — thus leaving all the quarter-liter fun to Honda and Kawasaki. Photos of the 2013 Yamaha YZF-R1 are after the jump.

2013 Yamaha YZF r125 2013 - Available with the Race-Blu Paintjob, which will also be used on the YZR-M1 at the Italian GP at Misano this year, with the Liquid-Cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, Single Cylinder, SOHC Engine is tuned to Deliver Free-revving Performance. And like all R-series Bikes, it Features a Lightweight Deltabox Frame. Linked to a cast Aluminium Swinging-arm, this Gives the R125 Class-Leading Handling.
