Japan Supply-Chain woes motorcycle earnings

Global makers of products from motorcycles to mobile phones are finding it harder to get the parts they need after Japan's earthquake and tsunami wrecked supply chains, and investors worry that the worst is yet to come for earnings.

Few motorcycle part manufacturers have announced extensions of production shutdowns for the current nuclear radioaction situation, sometimes even in unaffected regions. Interruptions to parts supply chains and distribution systems, as well as damage to infrastructure and energy shortages, are hindering production plans.

Motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc lowered the bottom end of its 2011 shipments forecast, because of problems getting hold of radio components.

Super Hot FERRARI V4 Concept Motorcycle !!

The Ferrari V4 superbike concept is a design created independently of Ferrari by Israeli designer Amir Glinik. The Ferrari motorcycle first appeared in 2006 and these are the latest images after a further two years' development.

The engine is a V4 derived from the massive V12 powering the Ferrari Enzo and it implements drive-by-wire technology as well as all the top notch features you would expect from an Italian engine.

Still a concept, the Ferrari motorcycle would be an interesting motorcycle to go into production if the Italian house softens. Though that is not something I believe would happen.

Japan Earthquake and its Effect on Motorcycle Industry & Market

The Japan quake, tsunami, and nuclear radiation issues in Japan have seriously affected the world motorcycle industry, especially since Japan is home to the “Big Four” motorcycle manufacturers: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha.

How can bike manufacturers operate in a shortage of electricity power, or blackouts, due to the failure of nuclear plant in Fukushima. On the other hand, Japan is going to suffer from a big drop of motorcycle sales and also output, which may turn to another disaster for motorcycle market since the financial crisis in 2008. No turning back in coming years soon. We look forward to seeing the report in second and third quarter of sales reports & production output in July and August this year. Stay with me here!

Honda states that it will halt production at all factories, including the Kumamoto Factory, where Honda produces the CBR600, the VFR1200F, the DN-01 and the Super Cub. Honda reported that production activities at the Kumamoto Factory will be suspended March 15-20.
Honda also stated it would co-operate with “rolling electricity blackouts,” which will help slow electricity usage. The rolling electricity outages are being done to avoid a total electric blackout.

Yamaha also released a statement, reporting its factories were not damaged by the quake. Yamaha continued to keep it’s factories open, and will re-evaluate the situation. Yamaha also reported it will co-operate in rolling electricity blackouts.

Suzuki released that it suspends production until March 17. On that day, Suzuki management would decide when to return to production.

Kawasaki has not released any information regarding the earthquake, and if it had any impact on the motorcycle manufacturer.

Honda NS500 - 500cc Grand Prix racing motorcycle in the early 1980s

The Honda NS500 is a 500cc Grand Prix racing motorcycle of the early 1980s, powered by a two-stroke V3 engine. Created as a replacement for the innovative but unsuccessful four-stroke NR500, the bike went against Honda's preference for four-stroke machines but proved very effective and quickly won the 1983 500cc World Championship with Freddie Spencer onboard.[1] After a relatively short lifespan the bike was replaced by the even more successful two-stroke V4 engine powered NSR500.

Reviews: KTM 350 EXC-F Factory

The power of a 450, the agility of a 250 - KTM 350 EXC-F Factory

The brand new KTM 350 EXC-F Factory puts down a new milestone in the Enduro World Championship in 2011. The newly developed factory bike claims no less than to be the most sophisticated and best four stroke racing Enduro ever.

KTM intends to transfer the sensational success of the 350 SX-F in the Motocross World Championship to the Enduro segment. The basic tenet of combining the low weight of a 250 with the power of a 450 will give the 350 EXC-F the edge. Combining massive performance with awesome agility makes for efficient, energy-saving rideability, which is at least as important in Enduro competitions as it is in Motocross races.

Due to its excellent design with an electronic fuel injection, KTM 350 EXC-F Factory has nearly the same output as a 450 cc power pack. At the same time though, it is as compact as a four stroke 250 and has the low weight and dynamic response of the smaller capacity. To make it even easier for the rider to fully exploit the advantages of this innovative engine, the brand new factory bike also joins the fray in the 2011 Enduro WC with newly designed bodywork.

The retailing price is also very reasonable - US$8,500 including shipping fee too!
