Review: 2013 Ducati Monster 796

The 2013 Ducati Monster 796 provides an ergonomics & a carefully designed balance between performance and usability. The 796 engine is a completely brand new, lightweight desmodue power unit designed to provide the torquey, smooth and enjoyable character famous of all Desmodromic L-Twins. 

The Monster 796 produces 84hp 64kW 8250rpm of power and a torque to 58lb-ft 78Nm 6250rpm. The extremely lightweight aluminium alloy Y-shaped, 5-spoke wheels reduce unsprung weight and improve agility. The 3.50x17 front wheel is fitted with a 120 and 70ZR tyre while the rear 5.50x17 wheel has a 180 and 55ZR. 

The result is lightweight & precise steering that is extremely responsive at all speeds while giving the vehicle exceptional stability. The riding position of the Monster 796 has been specifically designed to put you firmly in control. 

 

The seat height is only 800 mm 31.5in, making it easier for get both feet firmly planted on the ground. The Monster 796 has enhanced comfort and control with 20mm higher bar-risers gripping sturdy tapered section aluminium handlebars.

Review: 2013 Kawasaki Superbike Z1000

The Kawasaki Z1000 attracts riders with its muscular good looks and then seduces them with its incredible power and charismatic feel.

Review: 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R ABS

In 2006, Kawasaki upped the ante in the hypersport market, replacing its ZX-14R with the ZX-14.

The ZX-14 remained relatively unchanged until the 2012 model, the "R" added to the name due to the increased performance. The 2012 ZX-14R received an increase in engine displacement from 1352cc to 1441 cc, and also Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), a slipper clutch, revamped suspension and brakes, and more aggressive body styling.

This formula equaled over 200 horsepower and a top speed to the legally-limited 186mph, but with the comfort usually found on a sport-touring motorcycle.

Kawasaki returns with the model for 2013, but with ABS. Kawasaki says the compact and lightweight system helps increase rider confidence and helps provide additional security in slippery situations.

With its technologically advanced engine, the ZX-14R is sure to continue its dominance in the hypersport class, providing riders with all-out power, handling and comfortable ergonomics, now with the added safety of ABS.

2013 Piaggio Vespa GTS 300ie Super Review

Piaggio is the largest manufacturer of scooters in Europe, and Vespa is its premium small-wheel brand. Topping the eight-model 2013 line is the sleek, chic and speedy GTS 300 Super.

Conceived as basic, affordable transportation for crippled post-WWII Italy, the first Vespa with its pressed steel monocoque body and protective leg shield was a hit. Follow-ups were larger and more powerful, and soon drew worldwide acclaim.
 
Today’s clean-running Vespas differ greatly from the smoky two-strokes of the past; thrust now comes from fuel-injected four-strokes equipped with catalytic converters. Styling remains largely true to the shapely original.

The classic, unique Vespa style is combined with a distinctly sporty and modern personality, giving the clean Vespa lines a decidedly rugged look. 

With its sporty design, the Vespa GTS 300 Super embodies the style, convenience, safety and sturdiness of the Vespa brand. Priciest Vespa to date, the $6199 GTS 300 Super runs on the same liquid-cooled, sohc, four-valve Single that powers the $200-less-costly GTS 250. There is, however, one important distinction: A 3mm larger bore accompanied by a 3mm longer stroke bumps displacement from 244cc to 278cc. While claimed peak torque is only slightly higher (16.5 foot-pounds versus 14.9), it comes at 5000 rpm as opposed to 6500 for the 250.
