Suzuki Sales Continues to slide in UK & Many Dealers Shut Down

A Motorcycle magazine from the UK indicates a marketing strategy that may have backfired for Suzuki. Apparently, a combination of the continuing recession in Europe, a strong Japanese Yen, which caused prices to rise and a backlog of inventory has depressed sales of new Suzuki motorcycles from a high of approximately 21,000 in 2007 to approximately 12,000 in 2010.

Suzuki UK has the second-largest number of dealers in the UK but will close nearly 40 dealerships during the next year. It is estimated that the number of UK Suzuki dealers will drop from 130 to 90.
